About the Role

Our accountancy team provides tax registration, payroll, accounting and related services to a wide range of sole traders and companies from all industries. We provide a highly professional, quality, client-oriented service to our clients. We are looking for someone to take on a Bookkeeper/ Accounts Assistant role. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced person to join a very friendly and supportive firm, with a great working environment, where you will have the opportunity to take ownership of your role and have large client exposure. The firm has a varied and interesting range of work – so you will be involved in bookkeeping, Payroll preparation and advising and supporting clients in improving their processes and implementing new software. You will have plenty of autonomy and there is lots of scope to develop the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Bookkeeping Records including maintenance of Creditors and Debtors ledgers.
  • Payroll administration.
  • Preparation, submission and tax compliance of VAT, PAYE and subcontractor (RCT) returns.
  • Liaising and coordinating with internal staff members.
  • Develop & maintain relationships with clients.
  • General office administration and maintenance of records.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A strong desire to continue a career as an accounts assistant/bookkeeper. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with accounting and payroll systems (including XERO, Sage Payroll, Bank Reconciliation and Office packages (including MSWord and Excel), would be desirable.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and time management.

Primary Duties

  • Payroll Processing payrolls on a weekly/Monthly/Quarterly basis for multiple units in an accurate, on-time, compliant manner.
  • Issuing invoices, inputting data etc.
  • Prepare and issue weekly payroll reports to management.
  • Ensure payroll control are reconciled on a weekly basis.
  • Reconciling payroll at the end of the year, including consolidating data when necessary.
  • Issuing pay slips, handling payroll-related taxation and social welfare documents etc.
  • Assisting with pension and social welfare reconciliations.
  • Calculating holiday pay and statutory payments like maternity pay, paternity pay, and sick pay.
  • Bookkeeping Preparation of bi-Monthly VAT Returns Inputting Bank entries and preparing Bank Reconciliation.
  • Inputting Purchase Invoices, Inputting Sales Invoices, Preparation of Monthly Reconciliations for Debtors, Creditors and Bank Liaising with Clients regarding ongoing queries.

Desirable Qualities

  • Skills & Experience Previous experience of bookkeeping for multiple clients, ideally gained in a multi-client/accountancy practice environment.
  • Knowledge & experience of Bookkeeping systems and processes Knowledge & experience of in-house payroll processing.
  • Detailed knowledge of ROI Payroll Tax system in relation to PAYE, USC, PRSI, & BIK.
  • Familiarity with Revenue online Services & experience in submitting Revenue monthly & annual returns.
